The series improves as it goes on with a more engaging and complex plot emerging, the characters are all fantastic and interesting and the conclusion fit the series well. This Norse inspired epic is rich and immersive with compelling and engaging prose that is vivid and atmospheric. Easy to read and well paced but rich in detail and truly gripping from start to finish. The plot is full of components working together to create a story epic in scope and full of twists and turns. From murder and kidnapping to battle fame and Gods - this book has it all with three POVs coming together to create a fantastic overarching plot! The characters are absolutely amazing and complex. They are brutal, flawed and bloodthirsty, driven by vengeance, revenge and battle fame. You will love all of the murky characters (especially Orka!!). Everything about the is book was brilliant. 📚 #bookreview of #theunbroken by #clclark 📚. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨-4.75 stars. 💜 The Unbroken by CL Clark is a phenomenal, raw and emotional fantasy that addresses colonisation and its wide and narrow effects. The prose is rich and gorgeous, detailed and immersive from start to finish. The pace is perfect for the story slowly building up creating suspense and tension. The story is powerful and engaging. Emotional but filled with action and politics with magic weaved in naturally and subtly. The dual narrative aided the plot well allowing a lot of insight into the nobles and the conscripts and the rebels while also maintaining mystery and tension. The characters were raw and real, multidimensional and flawed. The descriptions are beautiful, the characters and world are well fleshed out and the writing is well paced. The plot is phenomenal from twisty politics, to assassinations to old legends and dangerous dragons. The world is intricate with rich myth and lore and has complex but understandable politics that are intriguing and tricky. The characters are amazing, flawed and realistic - with strong female characters being at the centre of the novel (and lots of LGBTQ+ rep = the main and side characters!)
