Emer’s Questions:

What is your favourite bookish trope?

Hmmm I have a few tropes that I ADORE. Some of my favourites are:

  • Enemies To Lovers – because who doesn’t love the angst, the tension and the hilarity that accompanies this trope! I will read this trope over and over again
  • Books And Stories – A trope that has recently gained popularity and become a trend, but I am a sucker for books based on books and stories!
  • For more tropes I love check out this old post! –> TTT Tropes I Love

What is your favourite song / album / playlist right now?

Hmm I am one of those people that doesn’t keep up with new music and releases πŸ™ˆ my playlist is just a messy amalgamation of songs, most of which are at least a couple of years old … And so currently I don’t have a favourite song/album right now!

What has been your favourite read of 2020 so far?

Ooh this is difficult because I have loved a few this year! Some of my top 2020 reads so far have been The Starless Sea, by Erin Morgenstern; Mexican Gothic, by Silvia Moreno Garcia; The Bone Shard Daughter, by Andrea Stewart! Though I also loved a LOT of my other reads this year (Such as Legacy Of Ash and MDZS!!) This year has been full of fantastic reads for me!!

If you could live for a day in the world of any book what book would you choose?

All of them??? I love so many of the fantasy worlds I have read about and would love to visit all of the standard ones we all know and love (From the Shire, to Hogwarts etc…) BUT, I would particularly love to visit the Circus in Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus!

What are your feelings on loaning books to friends and family?

Nope. Every time I loaned a book out in the past it came back in much worse shape from bent pages to ripped covers so now I refuse to loan out my books unless I REALLY trust you to look after it – and that is very very rare.

How do you feel about writing in books, or purposefully breaking book spines, or dog-earring pages?

If I bought a second hand book then I don’t mind dog-earing the pages or breaking the spines etc… since they are usually already in that condition anyway. However, if the book is brand new then I won’t break the spine, bend the pages or write in it. I like to keep my books in a good condition.

Which do you find easier to write, a book review for a five star rated book or one for a one star rated book?

Well, I am very picky with what I read because I know what I will enjoy, so it is very rare for me to read a book that will be a 1 star rating, and if I am really struggling I will DNF so I don’t tend to write 1 star reviews. That being said, I love writing 5 star reviews, though I do struggle at times, but I find them easy to write beause I love just gushing about books I love – it may be incoherent but the love comes through!

What is the post you are most proud of on your blog? Share a link to it.

I havent got many I am particularly proud of recently but I have reviewed some brilliant books in the last couple of weeks so I suppose those reviews would count: The Bone Shard Daughter, by Andrea Stewart – an epic, Asian inspired fantasy; The Last Prince, by EG Radcliff – a brilliant indie read infused with Gaelic mythology.

If someone was starring in the film of your life, who would you cast as you?

Hmmm, I have absolutely no idea! Tbh a film of my life would not be very fun, I’d much rather create a new fantasy film with a fun cast! I’d prefer to have that with a lead character based on me instead, especially since I’d love to see more disabled and chronically ill rep in other genres that are not contemporary/modern/life.

Novelty socks or novelty t-shirts?

I love both! But I do love a good oversized novelty t-shirt to chill around the house and read/blog in!

Ok so I am going to be very very lazy and reuse Emer’s questions for those I tag, but let’s be honesty they are brilliant questions sooooo …. πŸ™ˆ

I Tag: No obligation to answer the questions, but I look forward to your answers if you do!
