How I Started My Blog!

Well, I did attempt to start book blogging a couple of years ago during my A-Levels but I didn’t have the time nor dedication to do so efficiently and it resulted in disaster.

However, after I completed my A-Levels and decided to take a gap year (or two) before going to University, I suddenly had a lot more time on my hands and I felt lost and not very productive. I loved being busy with course work or revision more than I realised, so when I had nothing to do it felt wrong. So I thought why not restart my bookblogging?

Then a couple of months ago I set up my Blog, Netgalley, Goodreads and a Book Twitter account and decided to just dive into the book-blogging community – and it has been totally worth it! Book blogging is something I can do even when I am feeling unwell, which is often, and it keeps me occupied so it has been a lot of fun and very helpful. Not the most exciting story but it is mine πŸ˜‚.

Advice For New Bloggers From Yours Truly

I am still a relatively new blogger and am still learning the ropes myself but a few things I have picked up are:

Enjoy Yourself!

Blog about something you truly love and are truly pasionate about! Feel free to set yourself goals and try to achieve them, but do not stress yourself out over it. It doesn’t matter if you post once a week or every day as long as you are doing it for yourself or to spread your own love and enjoyment. If, like me, you use Netgalley or ARC’s pace yourself so you can enjoy the experience and don’t worry when it comes to requesting, you can still be approved even if you have a small following! Stats are not everything, yes some publishers prefer a high follow count, but if you are blogging about something you enjoy and love then, whether you have 1 follow or thousands, it doesn’t matter because your blog is for you and it should be about your passions!

Interact!

Don’t be afraid to interact with other bloggers in your community! Whether you blog about books, movies, anime or life – people are likely to be friendly! 9 times out of 10 if I have followed, liked or commented on another bloggers post or tweet, they have done so back. The community is a wonderful part of the blogging lifestyle and can help you connect with a lot of people, particularly if you are very introverted like I am! It can take a while to build up the courage to be active but it really pays off! And don’t stress over perfect writing or typos because nobody actually minds (I always have typos because I type quickly and a lot!) So don’t stress because we all make silly typing mistakes. Have fun, join group chats, comment on posts you like, and joing blogger threads – it is so much fun and makes blogging so much better.

Be Kind!

Last but not least, be kind. Blogging is, at its core, pretty subjective – especially if you are blogging about books, movies or general entertainment. This means that EVERYONE will have a different opinion, they may like the same things as you, they may hate what you love, but it doesn’t matter because it is subjective so respect other people’s opinions on what they like and dislike. It is fine to say why you like or dislike something as long as you accept that it may not be for everyone. Be kind to everyone, in reality or online, you can never truly know a person’s mind so let them enjoy what they want to, and if people are being cruel or attacking you – block them, don’t be afraid too!

Who I Nominate:

All of these blogs are absolutely incredible and are very interesting! The bloggers are lovely, supportive and kind and I LOVE them and their blogs! So I have nominated them, and I hope you will all check them out too! (Some of you may already have been nominated so no obligation.)

I am honoured to have been nominated and I hope you enjoyed my answers! What advice would you give to a new blogger? Happy Reading BookNerds! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’œπŸ“š

Kindness is so important in all aspects of life and we should always operate our blogs with kindness to the fore. And I totally agree with you that reaching out and chatting to other bloggers and making friends is the best thing about blogging. I have loved getting to know new people since I started my own blog, it really does feel like such a great community and I totally agree with you that if you start commenting on someone else's blog 9 times out of 10 those people will start chatting with you and will soon become a great blogging buddy. Brilliant post!! You are so completely deserving of this award <33333
