Between us BookNerds we have some pretty odd habits, and some pretty interesting thoughts when it comes to our books, and I thought that today I would let you in on some of mine!
Having a book for everything/everywhere
If you are anything like me then you possibly have more than one book on the go at a time. But, it is not as simple as that! Oh no – I have a book that i read during the day when I have free time, a book I read at night before bed, a book (or ten) in my bag in case I have to go out, a book in the car (if someone is driving me), a book on the kindle, and who knows where else! While I may not read each of these books every day, they remain in their positions in case they are needed!
All the books
Regardless of where I am going, whether it is on holiday, to a friends, to a doctors appointment, or a trip to the shops, I will always – without fail- take too many books with me. Okay, there is never such a thing as too many books, I simply take more books than I have time to read. But, I will always always do this. If I am on holiday I will take AT LEAST 2 books per day I am away (or 3).
Did i read it or watch it?
This one is a little odd, but I often get so engrossed in a book that it plays out in my head and I forget that I am actually reading words and not watching a movie. But, this leads me to forgetting if it was a book or a movie🤣 ! Usually I can end up working it out but sometimes it puts me in a state of confusion for a good few hours!
I get far too attached to my favourite fictional characters and get super emotional when they suffer! I love the characters soo much and I get really upset when I finish a book because it is over, the characters story is done. The sense of melancholy is so strong but non-bookish people think I am crazy🤣.
The Allure Of Bookshops
Whether I have money to spend or not, I will ALWAYS have to go in, look around and fight off the urge to buy a boatload of books. Even though I always leave feeling sad that I couldn’t buy books, I can’t help going in – it’s like a magnet pulling me in!
the new/old book smell
Old books smell great! New books smell great. Just books in general! I love the smell of bookshops and books and it just makes me want to buy more and more books.
I dislike dog-earing my pages (unless the book is second hand and has already had it done) so I will try to find a bookmark. However, sometimes there are no bookmarks to hand, or they are already in use, so I will use anything and everything I can! Random bits of paper, wrappers, hair-clips, hairbands, smaller books, ribbons and anything else that I could use as a bookmark, I will use! 🤣
These are some of my bookish thoughts and habits. I may do another post like this with more of my thoughts and habits if you like it! Let me know some of your bookish habit! Are they the same as mine? Are they completely different? Drop a comment and tell me. Happy Reading BookNerds😊💖📚
